First JR Sprint Win!

Updated: Jun 23, 2024

Easton Cambensy Wins First JR Sprint Race in Just Fourth Start

8 year old Easton Cambensy of Tucson Arizona claimed his first JR Sprint win Saturday night at Adobe Mountain Speedway in Glendale, Arizona. Driving the No. 51 Tri State Transportation, Levin Risk Management D1 JR sprint, Cambensy battled past Nixon Gabbard in the late stages of the 20-lap feature to score his first win in just his fourth career start.

Cambensy started on the outside of the front row for the main event, but lost the lead to Gabbard, of Phoenix, Arizona, on lap 7. Cambensy quickly turned under Gabbard entering turn three and slid up in front of him to take the lead. From there, Cambensy pulled away to win by 1.3 seconds over Gabbard.

“I’m so excited to get my first win,” said Cambensy. “Nixon raced me clean and it was a lot of fun battling with him. My crew gave me a great car and it handled perfectly. I have to thank my sponsors, especially Tri State Transportation, Levin Risk Managment and Sherman Racecars, for their support. This is a dream come true!”

The victory capped an impressive weekend for Cambensy, who earlier finished second in his heat race.
